If We Had Wings

Marina. Brazil. 16.

What are you afraid of? Its such a simple question and yet every time I’m asked it I lie. I tell people ‘Oh I’m so scared of spiders’, but the truth is, I can kill a spider all by myself, what truly deeply terrifies me down to my core is the idea behind being an adult, and there’s nothing I can do about it because in this society I am expected to grow up and become one and that makes me want to scream and cry more than any spider crawling in front of me would.

Call a boy a gentleman and watch his shoulders straighten. Call a girl a lady and watch her spirit turn graceful. Humanity was brought into existence by God speaking words into the void of the universe. We tend to become what we are called.
